The Gaslight Group to Open The 5 Spot Sandfly
Owners attribute success to overwhelming local support during the pandemic
SAVANNAH, GA, March 26, 2021 – Savannah’s own, The Gaslight Group, is pleased to announce plans to open their newest venture, The 5 Spot Sandfly, in The Shops at Sandfly this summer.
Co-Owner, Brian Huskey says, “The overwhelming local support that we’ve seen at The 5 Spot Midtown and at our food truck, The 5 Spot Mobile, have allowed us to take this next step to grow our business. My family, and our team, will always be grateful to our Savannah locals for their support.”
The Gaslight Group is working with Holmes + Salter Interiors for a complete renovation of the space. After a complete gutting of the interior, work is currently underway to turn the shell into another of the uniquely beautiful spaces that The Gaslight Group is known for.
“This restaurant will not only bring our popular The 5 Spot concept to a new area of town but will allow us to employ an additional 40-50 locals. We’ll be hosting jobs fairs in the coming months and look forward to hiring people from all over Savannah, but my hope has always been to own the type of restaurants where our neighbors feel comfortable sending their kids for their first jobs and where young people will want to work after school or on their summer breaks,” Huskey said.
The menu at The 5 Spot Sandfly will mirror the family friendly menu currently found at The 5 Spot Midtown. With the goal of creating delicious meals for everyone in the family, you’ll find signature hand-breaded chicken fingers alongside delicious salads and creative burger options. The 5 Spot Sandfly will be open for lunch and dinner with a weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. There will be a strong focus on their beverage program with the goal of creating a place where locals can relax and enjoy an exceptional libation.
To meet that goal, Huskey has brought seasoned restaurant veteran, Jake Brooks in as General Manager. Jake comes to The Gaslight Group from his most recent position as the Director of Restaurants & Bars for the Drayton Hotel and with many years of impressive restaurant and bar management across the US prior to that.
